Can you tell us a bit about your business and what gave you the confidence to start on your own?
My business focuses on delivering high-quality, client-focused block management services. I was driven by a desire to create a more transparent, responsive, and service-oriented experience for leaseholders and freeholders alike. The confidence to go out on my own came from years of industry experience, a deep understanding of client pain points, and a strong belief that there was room to do things better, with integrity and accountability at the forefront.
What key lessons have you learned that others can take away from your experience?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of clarity, whether it's in communication, processes, or expectations. Also, don’t underestimate the power of consistency. Small, daily actions compound over time. And finally, stay open to feedback; it's not a criticism of you, it's a gift that can help you grow.

Has mentorship or networking played a role in your success?
Absolutely. I’ve been fortunate to have mentors, both formal and informal, who’ve challenged me to think bigger and provided support during pivotal moments. Networking has also been vital. Surrounding myself with people who understand the challenges of entrepreneurship in property management has kept me grounded and inspired.
How do you navigate moments of doubt and stay motivated?
I remind myself why I started and the impact I want to make. I also find that taking action, even a small step, breaks the cycle of doubt. Surrounding myself with a supportive network and maintaining routines that prioritise mental and physical health has also helped me stay focused and resilient.
What unique perspectives do you think women bring to block management?
Women often bring a strong sense of empathy, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach, qualities that are incredibly valuable when managing complex property issues and diverse communities. We also tend to be strong communicators, which can diffuse tensions and build trust more effectively.
In your experience, do male and female leaders tend to approach challenges differently? If so, how?
There can be differences. I’ve found that women often approach challenges with a more inclusive and long-term mindset. There’s often a stronger emphasis on consensus, building and understanding underlying issues, whereas male leaders may sometimes favour quicker, more direct resolutions (just my experience). Both styles have value, and the best outcomes often come from balanced leadership.

How can the next generation of women in block management build on the progress made so far?
By continuing to speak up, pursue leadership roles, and support one another. It’s also important to keep advocating for better work-life balance, diversity in decision-making roles, and equitable opportunities. Education and mentorship are key. Knowledge is power, and sharing it empowers others.
How can women better support each other in this field?
By creating more spaces for honest conversation and collaboration. Celebrating each other’s wins, sharing resources, referring opportunities, and being willing to mentor or advocate for others can make a huge difference. We rise faster when we lift each other up.
Do you have a female role model who has inspired you?
I would say Emma Grede is my modern-day role model for a few reasons. For example, her entrepreneurial spirit, inclusivity and body positivity, advocating diversity, business acumen and her dedication to supporting other women. Watching how she navigates challenges while staying true to her values has been incredibly inspiring. She’s shown me that success doesn’t require sacrificing authenticity.
What do you believe is the higher purpose of a Managing Agent or Property Manager?
Beyond maintenance and compliance, the higher purpose is stewardship. Caring for communities and helping people feel safe, respected, and proud of where they live. It’s about being a trusted guardian of spaces that matter to people and ensuring long-term value and harmony.
